Families in Saskatchewan deserve support, not Scott Moe's political games attacking trans youth instead of focussing on the issues that matter here in Saskatchewan.
In Saskatchewan, we don't want our government overriding our Charter-protected rights and freedoms — especially not when it’s targeting vulnerable youth. Parents and young people deserve support, not political games pitting our communities against each other as a distraction from the real issues that matter – like the cost of housing and cuts to our education system.
All young people, including young trans people, deserve the freedom to be their true and authentic selves at school in a safe and welcoming environment. When a young person is exploring their identity,, they deserve to be supported through that journey. We all know what it’s like to group up as a young person and feel different at times; perhaps due to how you looked, how you dressed, where you moved from, or how much money your parents had. Growing up and discovering yourself can be hard enough, but when the Premier is attacking you like he is with trans youth, it’s simply not right.
Unfortunately, Premier Moe has chosen to strip away the rights of vulnerable children instead of listening to young people and their families. In 2023, Premier Moe forced through a policy that a judge found could cause 'irreparable harm to vulnerable children’. This approach is bad for kids, and bad for families.
We deserve leaders who govern in all our best interests', who listen to parents and are compassionate towards vulnerable students. Instead, Premier Moe is using trans youth as a political prop to spread division and push his personal ideological agenda.
That’s why we’re asking you to speak up with us – to help reverse Premier Moe’s dangerous anti-rights agenda and get us back to what matters most: creating a world-class education system where all students can thrive.
